Introduction
The Myeloma UK Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme (MNLP) is an innovative, online learning course developed specifically for haematology and oncology nurses with a particular interest in myeloma.

The aim of the Programme is to provide practical and relevant information about myeloma that will support nurses in delivering optimal care, information and support to myeloma patients and their families. It includes both summative and reflective learning in an interactive environment enhanced through the use of audio-visual tools.

Produced by Myeloma UK, the Programme is updated regularly and reviewed by haematologists and nurse specialists in the field.

It comprises 10 separate learning modules that provide a comprehensive overview of the disease entity; its pathogenesis; how it is diagnosed and monitored; the symptoms and complications arising from it; treatment and supportive measures, as well as the more holistic aspects of care. It also reflects the continually changing research and policy environment to ensure nurses are always up-to-date.

Assessment
Short self-assessment multiple-choice tests can be found at the end of each module. On completion of the course, users are assessed on their understanding through ten formal examination assessments covering each module.

Accreditation
The Programme is credit-rated by Edinburgh Napier University with 20 credits awarded on successful completion of the course.

It is also accredited by the Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA). Nurses from Australia and New Zealand will be awarded 170 RCNA Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) as part of the RCNAs life-long learning programme (3LP).

A certificate will be issued to support your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and professional revalidation requirements.

“I think the Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme is an excellent resource to help nurses keep up-to-date. I found the programme easy to use and simple to navigate around. The information was pitched at the right level and I particularly liked how you can dive in and out of the programme to fit in with your free time. I feel that I am much more informed about myeloma and better placed to discuss relevant aspects of myeloma with my patients and their families.”

Jane Ransome, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Derriford Hospital, Plymouth (July 2010). Jane was the first nurse to complete the Programme

Through the Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme, Myeloma UK looks forward to working with nurses across the world in improving the treatment, care and support of myeloma patients
