Introduction
The Myeloma UK Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme (MNLP) is an innovative, online learning course developed specifically for haematology and oncology nurses with a particular interest in myeloma.
The aim of the Programme is to provide practical and relevant information about myeloma that will support nurses in delivering optimal care, information and support to myeloma patients and their families. It includes both summative and reflective learning in an interactive environment enhanced through the use of audio-visual tools.
Produced by Myeloma UK, the Programme is updated regularly and reviewed by haematologists and nurse specialists in the field.
Programme Overview
The programme comprises 10 separate learning modules that provide a comprehensive overview of the disease entity including; its pathogenesis; how it is diagnosed and monitored; the symptoms and complications arising from it; treatment and supportive measures, as well as the more holistic aspects of care. It also reflects the continually changing research and policy environment to ensure nurses are always up-to-date.
Assessment
In the programme, you’ll explore 10 individual modules, each followed by optional self-assessment tests to gauge your understanding. For each module, there’s a required final assessment. Once all modules are completed, a comprehensive final assessment is necessary to earn CPD points. Your success in the programme is determined by achieving an average score of 40% on the final assessments.
Accreditation
The Programme is managed, delivered and awarded by Myeloma UK and is accredited by the Royal College of Pathologists. Each module awards 10 CPD points, with completion of the entire learning programme awarding a certificate for 100 CPD points.
A certificate will be issued after completion of the entire programme to support your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and professional revalidation requirements. Individual module certificates can be found in your CPD portfolio. Please note that only medical staff and scientists in career grade posts who are enrolled with one of the Royal Colleges for CPD purposes will be entitled to receive CPD points.
Through the Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme, Myeloma UK looks forward to working with nurses in the UK and across the world in improving the treatment, care and support of myeloma patients.
